How will the vibrant Night Vibes scheme benefit Hong Kong?

The new nighttime scheme, also known as Night Vibes Hong Kong, was introduced by Finance Secretary Paul Chan on September 14, 2023. The nighttime scheme's purpose is to elevate the city’s economy and bring it back to its pre-pandemic conditions. However, before the pandemic, the locals also made up a significant population, contributing to the nighttime economy. In order to get the locals into their pre-pandemic practices, the government has made several efforts to lure the public to stay out at night.

The Night Vibes Hong Kong have taken a start since the mid-autumn festival, will go on through Halloween, Christmas, etc., and will last until early 2024.

The many benefits include free rides on the MTR after 10:30, and extended opening hours of theme parks such as Disneyland and Ocean Park. Famously known markets like Temple Street are reopening again in the recent surge of mainland tourists. As a continuation of pre-pandemic practices, on October 1st this year the government sent fireworks flying into the sky again. A number of malls are now open until 11:00 pm. On special occasions such as National Day, the MTR gives out discounts to the public such as subsidized fare for adults; however, for children, the fare is completely exempt. On Wednesday, HK brands and products will have up to 900 stalls near the Happy Valley racecourse. The HK Museums (Science, Space, Historical, and Art) will open up to 10 pm. In addition to all this, they have free or extended parking in certain parking lots.

The government is all set and trying to make the festive season even more festive. So, head out and enjoy the festivities. For the latest updates under the night vibes scheme please refer to this site: https://www.nightvibeshk.gov.hk/tc/
